Isaiah 35:1-10
Following an oracle of the destruction of the nations, the prophet promises restoration of the Promised Land, and the joyful return of the exiles to Jerusalem.
James 5:7-10
James exhorts his readers to wait patiently for the Day of the Lord. Though they are suffering now, and are anxious for the restoration of the Kingdom, they must wait a little longer. Nevertheless, the time is near.
Matthew 11:2-11
John the Baptist has been arrested and imprisoned. Discouraged and in doubt, he sends messengers to ask Jesus: “Are you the one?”
