2 Samuel 7:1-11,16

David is now installed as king in Jerusalem. He has a fine palace. For centuries, the Ark, the symbol of God’s presence, has been portable. Has the time now come for it to be housed in a building?

Romans 16:25-27

Our reading is the closing words of Paul’s letter. God has had a plan for salvation of all people since the beginning. It was only partially revealed in the Old Testament, and is now disclosed fully in Christ. It can strengthen us in our faith.

Luke 1:26-38

Zechariah has been told by an angel that his wife, Elizabeth, will bear a child in her old age. He will be named John. He will be filled with the Holy Spirit, and will “turn many of the people of Israel to the Lord their God ... to make ready a people prepared for the Lord.” Now the angel has another announcement to make.
