contemplating the Scriptures

Jeremiah 4:11-12,22-28

Because God is angry with the leaders and people of Judah for their failure to follow his ways, he is sending invasion forces from the north. The result will be total destruction of the land. It will be as though earth has returned to its primordial, chaotic state.

1 Timothy 1:12-17

The author writes as though he is Paul – something considered an honour in his time. He has warned his readers about those who teach heresy. In spite of distorting God’s message and persecuting Christians, God showed mercy to Paul in converting him to Christianity.

Luke 15:1-10

Jesus’ association with tax collectors and sinners begs the question: are any beyond God’s mercy? Jesus answers with three parables showing that God cares about those who are unable to find him; he seeks them.
