contemplating the Scriptures

Jeremiah 31:27-34

For generations, the people of Judah have ignored God’s ways. Even when God, through Jeremiah, has appealed to them to turn to him and repent, they have refused to do so. Even so, God tells the people that the restoration of both Israel and Judah will come.

2 Timothy 3:14-4:5

Timothy leads a church in a time when false teachers are misleading members of the community. In his concluding remarks, Paul counsels him to follow his example, even if it involves suffering.

Luke 18:1-8

When some Pharisees have asked Jesus when the kingdom of God will come, he has told them that it is already among them. He has warned his disciples that its full coming will be sudden and unexpected. Many people will miss it, being preoccupied with worldly affairs.
