8.1 A Member of the Clergy entering this Diocese prior to October 16, 1987 from a society or another diocese of the church in reciprocity with the Plan shall acquire full membership in the Plan with permissible credit for such years of the active service as is provided by the reciprocity agreement then in force.

8.2 On or after October 16, 1987, a Member of the Clergy having transferred from a society or another diocese of the church in reciprocity with the Plan shall acquire membership in this Plan from the date of the transfer. However, the periods of service and membership in the pension plan from which the Member is transferred shall be recognized only in determining eligibility for benefits which require service or membership qualifications.

8.3 A Member of the Clergy transferring into this Diocese from a society or another diocese of the church not in reciprocity with the Plan:

1. may, notwithstanding the provisions of Sections 3.1 or 3.2, have the option of not joining this Plan and staying in the pension plan of the institution from which the transfer originated. In such case the Diocese shall collect Personal Assessments as defined in Section 9.1 (b), and collect or provide the Salary Source Assessments as defined in Section 9.1 (c), and the Committee shall transfer the same to such pension plan. If the amount so transferred is insufficient, the balance shall be the personal responsibility of the Member of the Clergy, or

2. may leave accumulated contributions in the pension fund of such institution for whatever benefit they will provide and must enter this Plan as a new Member.
